Mon Espace Créateur - { My Creative Space }

Some time ago we chatted about mon petit poppet's best bud Pippi and her dire need for a makeover. After much discussion, advice, pondering said advice and faffing about in general it was decided that a new Pippi would not be accepted by Bijou. And so continued poor Pippi's decline in scary-ville.

When another of Bijou's handmade toys needed a little surgery on one of his peepers (just call me Dr. Stephanie, opthamologist extraordinaire!) a deft hand a needle and thread saved the day. Poppet thought this was magic and examined Mr.G's button eye in wonder frequently exclaiming, "Mumma, be-be!" (Mumma, better!)

Now was the time to strike with our damsel in distress I thought and so proceeded over the next few days to point out all Pippi's ailments and tell Bijou that Mumma would make her all be-be!
Last night as my wee babe slipped from one glorious dream to another, I busied myself with the recreation of a legend! After a few pottery hours of sewing, Pippi was ready. Such a sight to behold!! I almost felt like the father of a bride when he first spies his baby girl in her wedding frock.

All that was left to do was swap her over with the now retired Pippi and eagerly anticipate Poppet's reaction in the morning. Nothing short of anti-climactic her reaction elicited one "Mumma be-be" before Pippi was plopped back into the cot where she lives. Disappointed at first it then dawned on me that Bijou thought nothing of this "new" Pippi and treated her just as she had the old one. Her bestie! Mission accomplished!!

To see what all the other crafty lasses (and maybe laddies) have been up to this week please pop over to Kirsty's blog.

She looks lovely - and a spitting image of the previous one (can't help feeling a little sorry for the old one though!)

Well done, the new "Pippi" looks gorgeous. How lovely that Bijou did not think anything of the new "Pippi" -better that than a very upset little girl. At least there will be many more happy years for the "best friends" to share!

it is so hard when they become attached to a favourite toy ... i had just the same problem when the favourite was lost. i loved your little story and your toys are so sweet.

ha ha and here i was thinking that Pippi was sent off to the day spa for a facial, manicure, hair cut and blow dry, eyebrows tinted and her skirt given a pouf! There is no denying you are a marvel at making these adorable dolls - Bijou will make wonderulf memories will 'new Pippi' (and I wonder if you will ever tell her you 'swapped her Pippi') - shh mum's the word (nod, wink ;-P)

Pippi refreshed! thank goodness you still had all the fabric you needed! She looks all sparkling and perky, those piggie tails make me think of skipping and jumping on trampolines.

Such a cute story and doll. and too true- it's the best sign if she barely noticed a difference- clearly you accomplished everything you set out to achieve. She looks wonderful anyway! xo m.

That is so adorable Steph, you have such a knack for story telling!! The old Pippi must have been washed quite a bit - she was really fading away, wasn't she! The new Pippi is lovely and bright and just gorgeous!

Oh she's divine!

My son is nearly four now and still an avid devotee of his knitted blankie ... I think he is onto his sixth. And they've all been substituted in the same sly overnight-while-babe-sleeps fashion!
