Living the Good Life

Bunkering down inside feeling a wee bit like Dorothy in her sparkly red shoes as the wind outside shook the windows sending shivers down my spine......a spot of embroidery for a little kitchen-y project....

Baking this choccie cake with fresh cream and blueberries....

for this man as he braved the winds and worked all weekend demolishing a very shoddy retaining wall half the length of our yard....and then rebuilding it...

Admiring "old school" flowers...

Finally hanging some vintagey bunting made too long ago to remember... looking at it from time to time...smiling often...

Love, love, loving my little piece of heaven's crafty space which has been constantly overflowing with cut up bits of paper since Mumma bought her some poppet friendly scissors and she found her groove with cutting with them....

Injecting small pops of colour into our world....

Taming a cantankerous sciatic nerve by sitting Victorian lady straight whilst starting a little vest for mon petit poppet....for next Winter!....

Picking up, flicking through, curling up with one or all of these delicious new books (have had oodles of custom and wholesale orders for mon petit poppet so thought I might indulge myself a wee bit!) ....more often than not putting all the mentioned projects on hold to stare at my giant belly squirming and wriggling...so surreal.... and absolutely magic!

Yipeeee!!!! - { Yipeeeee!!!.....I don't know how the French would say this }

I am so deliriously excited to show off the cover of this gorgeous book featuring oodles of Australian designers. Handmade Living will showcase many of our beloved blog friends..... including moi!! I have two projects in this book and have to pinch myself regularly to make sure it's not a dream....I'm going to be in a real, proper, sit on the bookshelf, maybe even in a library, book....Yipeeeeeee!!!

This brilliant compilation will hit stores nationally on the 4th December but to pre order a copy head over to the Handmade Living website.

On another note, I've just opened a made it shop. I've been a busy little bee photographing and listing all my goodies so I'd love you to take a look and let me know what you think. And let me just say, we Aussies rock as far as crafting goes! There are some brilliant wares out there and I'm afraid I may very well spend more than I make!!

I'm off now to have a shower and hopefully wash away some of the narcissism that comes with such a day. Hopefully my head will fit through the door! No doubt there will be a pooey nappy this afternoon to bring me firmly back to the ground.

Mon Espace Créateur - { My Creative Space }

My creative space is filled with affaires inachevées i.e.unfinished business! Many a work in progress gets eagerly unpacked onto the dining table each morning, then sadly packed away each night. A predicament caused entirely by my own doing. I have a tendency to almost finish a project and then flit to the newer and shinier one waiting on the sidelines. Hence, here is my rather embarrassing list of "things to finish" that are written in my daily diary, then crossed out and transferred to the next day's page....over and over again. The reason I am airing my dirty crafting laundry is so that you, my fellow bloggers, may take me to task over it and demand some finished products. Please excuse me while I hang my head in shame. Task Number 1 : a gorgeous little caravan softie I started making for my Poppet about 2 months ago. Tsk Tsk Tsk I hear you say.

Task Number 2 : Some gorgeous fabric waiting to be turned into some new sleep shorts so I can toss these ratty old ones into the rag bag (I think the rags will even snub this pair!). Yes, I know it's almost Winter.

Task Number 3 : Poppet's Debbie Bliss cardigan. Now I refuse to be scolded over this one because I'm working as fast as my incompetent knitting hands can go. I do some (not always a lot) every night I promise.

Task Number 4: A little crochet hook cosy from my new book, Sew Darn Cute. A thank-you present that is well overdue! Booooo! Hiss!

And then, just to rub salt into my wounds. My lovely postie delivers this into my mailbox!

Into the cupboard until all the other projects are finished.....not likely!
To have a pleasant look through some more virtuous crafters' creative spaces, pop over to lovely Kirsty's blog.

Le Bébé et Les Biscuits - { The Baby and the Biscuits }

Last week, dear friends of ours welcomed their new baby daughter into the world. They named her Hannah, meaning flower blossom in Japanese. So as a tribute to her name and its beautiful meaning, I made her a tiny little kimono from Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross. I used a lovely (and very tiny) piece of Tanya Whelan's "Darla" fabric, polka dot bias binding and pale pink buttons as cherry blossoms to embellish it. As tiny as it is...it still swims on her. Bless!

I made a few appliquéd washers too as you can never have too many!

And because my lovely Mummy says you never call on new parents without food. Hubby and I made a vegetarian lasagne, an asparagus quiche and some bikkies

These are "breastfeeding biscuits" with ingredients to help with Mumma milk making (they also contain choccie chips just cause). My Hubby and our male friend took tentative bites when I told everyone what they were called as if with each nibble they would begin to sprout their own heaving set of milk laden bosoms! At last check, Hubby's boobies (sorry love...pecs!) were in their perfect state of manliness. But doesn't the mind boggle!
